Lucasfilm has unveiled Chopper, the newest droid and a character in the upcoming Star Wars Rebels animated series on Disney XD.

Here’s how the character is described:

“Copper is an essential crew member of the Ghost, tasked with keeping the starship running and operational for its band of heroes.

In reality, thanks to his many ‘unique’ upgrade and customizations, no other alien, human, or droid could handle the job.”

The design of Chopper, a.k.a. C1-10P, takes cues from early Ralph McQuarrie concept art for R2-D2, especially the expressive arms that fold out of his head.

As Star Wars Rebels takes place will years prior to the event’s of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, Chopper’s retro look creates an aesthetic continuity with droids of the original trilogy.

Star Wars Rebels is scheduled to premiere in fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel and will be followed by a series on Disney XD.

NEWS FLASH!: Dynamite Entertainment has announced an April launch for an ongoing Flash Gordon series from writer Jeff Parker, artist Evan “Doc” Shaner and colorist Evan “Doc” Shaner.

“We’re bringing Flash back for a new audience,” Parker said. “It’s over-the-planet high action and adventure where Flash’s spirit and optimism are as powerful as anything the forces of Ming the Merciless can dish out.”

Here’s how the book is described:

“The new Flash Gordon series places the ultimate sci-fi hero on the bizarre planet Mongo, where his thirst for thrills and danger makes him the perfect weapon against world-breaking Ming the Merciless and his awful inter-planetary swarms of terror. Can the cocksure Man From Earth funnel his overconfidence into saving worlds, or will the universe fall to Ming?”

SUPERMAN/BATMAN MOVED TO MAY 6, 2016
Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that the release of Zack Snyder untitled Superman/Batman film has been moved to May 6, 2016, “allowing the filmmakers time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story.”
The decision was made following the shift of the start of production to second quarter of this year.
The new date pits the movie against an untitled Marvel movie on the same day. Warner has also set a July 17, 2015, worldwide release date for its as-yet-untitled Peter Pan movie.
Dan Fellman, President, Domestic Distribution said, “We are happy to take advantage of these coveted summer dates, which are perfect for two of our biggest tentpole releases. We share the fans’ excitement to see DC Comics most popular figures, Superman and Batman, together on the big screen for the first time, which will now be arriving in theatres in May 2016.”
Kwan Vandenberg added, We know that there is already great anticipation building for the next Super Hero film from Zack Snyder, and we are equally eager to see what he has in store for Superman and Batman as they share the big screen for the first time ever.
Superman/Batman film stars Henry Cavill, reprising his role as Superman/Clark Kent, and Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne. The film will also reunite Man of Steel stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane, and also stars Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince.
Snyder will direct the film from a screenplay written by David S. Goyer and a story co-created by Goyer and Snyder.
