* SPIDER-MAN SHOOTING:

Sony Pictures has announced a production start on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in New York. The film is the first in the history of the franchise that will be filmed entirely in New York City and New York State.

The sequel stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti and Sally Field.

 

Here’s how the movie is described:

 

“For Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy — between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away — but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.”

 

The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner, with a previous draft by James Vanderbilt. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producers.

 

The films key behind-the-scenes team includes director of photography Dan Mindel, production designer Mark Friedberg, editors Pietro Scalia and Elliot Graham and costume designer Deborah L. Scott.

 

The sequel will be released in 3D on May 2, 2014.

 

* AVENGERS ASSEMBLED:

Members of The Avengers cast, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo, will present together at the Academy Awards on Feb. 24.

“We are happy to re-unite the Avengers cast to present on our show,” said show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron in a statement. “Audiences who enjoyed the year’s biggest box office hit will be excited to see these terrific actors back together again.”

 

* VERY SPECIAL EFFECTS:

The Avengers won two awards at the 11th Annual VES Awards for video effects. Avengers won for Outstanding Models in a Feature Motion Picture and Outstanding Created Environment in a Live Action Feature Motion Picture.

* KEACH IN SIN CITY:

According to Variety, Stacy Keach has joined the cast of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and will play will play mob boss Wallenquist.

* SUPER COMMERCIALS:

In a targeted survey of nearly 3,000 active moviegoers conducted by MovieTickets.com,

Iron Man 3 rated as the #1 movie-related Super Bowl commercial most remembered.

STAR-LORD CAST:

According to Deadline, Marvel Studios has cast Chris Pratt to play Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Pratt, 33, plays Andy Dwyer in NBC’s Parks and Recreation. His other credits include Zero Dark Thirty, Moneyball, Jennifer’s Body and Wanted.
