There will be a Star Wars Episode 7 — from Walt Disney Pictures.

The Walt Disney Company has announced it has agreed to acquire Lucasfilm Ltd. from Chariman and Founder George Lucas in a stock-and-cash transaction.

Under the terms of the agreement and based on the closing price of Disney stock on Oct. 26, the transaction value is $4.05 billion, with Disney paying approximately half of the consideration in cash and issuing approximately 40 million shares at closing.

The Lucasfilm acquisition follows Disney’s acquisitions of Pixar and Marvel.

Kathleen Kennedy, current Co-Chairman of Lucasfilm, will become President of Lucasfilm, reporting to Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn, will serve as the brand manager for Star Wars. Kennedy will serve as executive producer on new Star Wars feature films, with Lucas serving as creative consultant. Star Wars Episode 7 is targeted for release in 2015, with more feature films expected to continue the Star Wars saga.

“For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next,” Lucas said. “It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime.

“I’m confident that with Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy, and having a new home within the Disney organization, Star Wars will certainly live on and flourish for many generations to come. Disney’s reach and experience give Lucasfilm the opportunity to blaze new trails in film, television, interactive media, theme parks, live entertainment, and consumer products.”

“Lucasfilm reflects the extraordinary passion, vision, and storytelling of its founder, George Lucas,” said Robert A. Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company. “This transaction combines a world-class portfolio of content including Star Wars, one of the greatest family entertainment franchises of all time, with Disney’s unique and unparalleled creativity across multiple platforms, businesses, and markets to generate sustained growth and drive significant long-term value.”

I think this is news for Star Wars fans.

I would like to see more movie.

The current season of Star Wars: the clone Wars

it’s a mixed bag so far I can’t wait until Darth Maul and his brother join Deathwatch.

What do you think? Is Disney monopoly for boys now?

Under the deal, Disney will acquire ownership of Lucasfilm, including its Star Wars franchise and its operating businesses in live=action film production, consumer products, animation, visual effects and audio post production. Disney will also acquire Lucasfilm’s portfolio of cutting-edge entertainment technologies. Lucasfilm, headquartered in San Francisco, operates under the names Lucasfilm Ltd., LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic, and Skywalker Sound, and, according to Disney, the present intent is for Lucasfilm employees to remain in their current locations.

NEW YORK COMIC CON: THE WALKING DEAD

The night before the premiere of Season 3 of AMC’s The Walking Dead, several members of the cast and two of the show’s execuvie producers held court before a raucous crowd Saturday night at New York Comic Con.

Following are highlights:

* Paneiists included Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Andrew Lincoln, Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, David Morrissey and Michael Rooker. A clip that opens Season 3 was shown as the survivors take out a house without any verbal communication.

* Kirkman said after the way the second season ended, the pace of the show had to maintain that intensity. “We really come back in a big way,” he said.

* Lincoln: “It’s been pretty intense this season. The props guys, who all the most incredible fans of the show, on my first day, said there are more zombie kills in this episode that in the whole of Season 1.”

* Lincoln said he went into the writers’ room and asked what Rick’s breaking point would be. “Well, we find out this season,” he said. “It’s been brutal. It’s been intense. It’s The Walking Dead.”

* Lincoln said there is a jump forward in time and the survivors have “evolved beyond recognition,” pointing to Riggs’ development as Carl.

* “It’s really cool for me to play more of a dark character,” Riggs said. “It’s like playing two different people.”

“When people ask, ‘Where’s Carl?,’ this season we can say, ‘He’s in the house killing zombies,'” Hurd said.

* Reedus on the development of Daryl: “He’s been away from the enforcement of his big brother. They love each other in this messed up way. I think Daryl now feels value in these people relying on him and these people are his family now. Rick is sort of becoming the brother that he lost.”

* Gurira on Michonne: “It’s been an intense, brutal joy. I’m having a blast. I think she’s been through stuff. I think her choice of what to do was a very intense, powersful choice to allow her to recreate herself as a powerful force.

“She’s always thinking 3-4-5 steps ahead. That’s really thrilling to step into. She’s an intense chick.”

* Morrissey was asked if the Governor was evil. “Interesting term, evil, isn’t it?” he said. “I don’t know if anyone says that about themselves.”

Morrissey said Kirkman’s Rise of the Governor story was the starting point for him. “It (Woodbury) is a great place if you abide by the rules,” he said. “It’s a secure place in a very inescure world.”

* Rooker on Merle: “If you live in the world, you’d think you would want to hide out behind this cat. I’m a tough asshole.”

* Asked about a girlfriend for Carl, Riggs said, “Beth is 17 and Carl is 13, so you might see a little bit of that.”

* Lincoln said Rick is going to “the dark side.” “I go crazy and I’m kind of still there,” he said.

Frankenweenie lives again!

Frankenweenie lives again!

Directed by: Tim Burton

With the Voices of: Martin Short , Catherine O’Hara , Martin Landau

and Wynonna Rider

Rated PG

Running Time: 1 hr. and 27 min.

Five Stars Out Of Five*****

by Adam Blasucci 7/11/12

Frankenweenie was a great film. It is very similar to Tim Burton’s original live-action short.

But don’t think you’ve seen everything if you watched the original film.

It’s a spooky, bizarre, funny and moving film with heart, which Tim Burton does best.

If you are a horror film buff like I am their are a lot of homages

to classic horror movies sprinkled throughout the film. I enjoyed the new added material of

reanimated pets running amok in the town to

make the story a full-length movie experience.

I guess you could call this an actual Frankenstein of movie with Tim Burton stitching together

a touching family film, a bizarre comedy and a monster mash with a great cute and lovable dog.

Proving that Burton is a great mad scientist of filmmaker.

This film in my opinion is up there with

Tim Burton classics like Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare before Christmas and Big Fish

some of his most personal films to date.

This film makes you laugh and your eyes water up a little bit

because of the universal experience of loving and losing a favorite pet.

This movie truly is great Halloween fun with warmth and friendly

terrors out of Tim Burton’s imagination.
